I started the morning at the Ios Archeological Museum in Chora (entry €4). It consists of three small rooms and although it does not house anything extraordinary there are thousands of years of history about which to read.
Skarkos was the original settlement on the island, dating from 2000-2400 BC. There are many links to the poet Homer and he was probably buried on Ios around the 8th century BC.
From Chora it is about a thirty minute walk down the hill to the pleasant beach area of Paralia Milopotas with good swimming and several beach-side restaurants and bars.
Thanks again to Cee for inspiring another day of floral photography with the Flower of the Day Challenge .
